Volkswagen
Overview
Abstract
Volkswagen
was probably the first german automobile maker to investigate the use of virtual
reality for manufacturing, styling, review, simulation, etc.
In this project, I have implemented a VR system ( Virtual
Design II ) for the development team at Volkswagen. The goal was a system
so that VW could implement their applications themselves.
Partner
Volkswagen
Duration
Fall 1994 - Dec 1998
( the cooperation with VW is still continuing, although many projects are now
handled by VRCom )
Team
The size and members of the team varied a lot during the project. In the
beginning, Wolfgang Felger managed the project and I implemented it,
later I implemented and managed it. Other members were, for a time,
Dirk
Reiners, Udo Jacob,
Christian Knöpfle,
Torsten Fröhlich,
Alexander Rettig.
