(London, Melbourne, Brussels, Ghent)
Prof. Glanville does not only have a series of academic titles culminating in the D.Sc., he is also affiliated with many international places. He is a professor of architecture and cybernetics at University College London.
The origin of much theory surrounding contemporary computing, understandings of the mind and its mechanisms, and complexity and chaos has a lost origin in early cybernetics. What was cybernetics, and how has it changed since then? How we might learn about and understand the world, and how we might use these (essentially constructivist) developments in cybernetics to extend the range of actions we may take, is a second concern of the talk. In the end, Prof. Glanville hopes that these insights allow us to see our place in the world in a new and beautiful way that has a potential from which we may learn to bring forth actions of a new and distinct quality.
