Complex numbers and astrophysics
In 2005, Khavinson and Neumann proved a conjecture in
astrophysics (more specifically, a conjecture about gravitational
lensing) by using, among other things, a result of Fatou about
iteration of rational functions. More recently, Khavinson and Lundberg
studied another question about gravitational lensing by using a result
from the iteration theory of transcendental meromorphic functions. The
talk will first explain the work of Khavinson, Neumann and Lundberg
and its relation to gravitational lensing and will then describe an
alternative approach (joint work with Alexandre Eremenko) to the
question studied by Khavinson and Lundberg.

Mehrzweckhochhauses (MZH) der Universität Bremen, Bibliothekstraße.
