The International Lab for Local Capacity Building (www.capacitylab.org) at the Bremen Spatial Cognition
Center, University of Bremen, Germany, announces the following open position (under the condition of job
release):
Research Assistant / Research Fellow
A269/15
Information and Communication Technology for Development (ICT4D)
Responsibilities: 1) to design, maintain, and implement mobile software for use under adverse conditions; 2) to
supervise student software development projects for computer science and digital media students; 3) to build
upon the Capacity Lab's activities in the Lao People's Democratic Republic and help expand the network of
research and development partners; 4) to publish research results in international peer-reviewed outlets; 5) to
assist in seeking external funding for future activities.
Required qualifications and experience: Applicants should have
· A master or PhD in computer science or a closely related discipline
· A strong motivation to research and develop ICT concepts of particular relevance to developing
societies, such as health, education, agriculture, disaster management, or livelihood
· Good communication skills for collaboration with national and international partners
· Interest in project acquisition
· Good team player skills

The position is funded until 31 Dec 2017; it may be prolonged if new funding becomes available.
Salary range according to the German Federal pay scale TV-L 13, approx. 40,000 ­ 48.000 p.a.
