I am a musicologist with a focus on applied psychoacoustics in sound field synthesis, auditory displays and music information retrieval. My research interests also include musical acoustics, architectural acoustics, microphone- and hydrophone arrays.
1) Psychoacoustic Auditory Displays:
Implementation of auditory perception in the design of auditory displays and sonification for navigation, for application areas, like:
- Minimally invasive surgery and other clinical procedures with limited visual landmarks
- Auditory user interfaces and audio games
- Sonification of movements in dance or rehabilitation
Videos from the auditory display can be found on YouTube.
2) Psychoacoustic Sound Field Synthesis:
- Technical implementation of auditory perception
- Physical implementation of the radiation characteristics of musical instruments
- Investigation of the auditory perceived source extent
3) Microphone- and Hydrophone Array Technology:
Development of near and far field methods to:
- Measure the sound radiation characteristics of musical instruments
- Track objects
