CoFI workshop at ETAPS'99 in Amsterdam, 27-28 March 1999

Dear CoFI friends,

There will be a CoFI workshop in Amsterdam on 27-28 March 1999
(plus an informal meeting of the semantics group on 26 March in the
evening) as a satellite event of the ETAPS'99 conference. See

	http://www.cwi.nl/conferences/ETAPS99

for information about ETAPS'99 and

	http://www.cwi.nl/~markvdb/cofi/etaps.html

for information about the workshop, including the schedule. The
workshop will consist of working meetings of the various task groups,
preceded by a 1.5-hour general presentation of CoFI status. People
who come only to this general presentation are not required to
register for the workshop.

The agenda for the meetings of each task group will be announced in
due course on its mailing list (cofi-language@brics.dk etc.) and this
information will be added to the CoFI workshop's web page. Some of
the coordinators have already sent broadcasts asking people for
contributions -- please respond if you have something to contribute.

If you plan to attend the workshop, please register as soon as
possible. See the ETAPS'99 web page for an online registration form.
The early registration deadline is 1st March. The workshop is an
official meeting of the ESPRIT-funded CoFI WG which means that funding
to attend ETAPS'99 and the workshop is available. For the rules about
funding including who is eligible and the procedure to follow, see

	http://www.dcs.ed.ac.uk/home/dts/CoFI-WG/money.html

and please don't forget to follow the rules about asking a working
group coordinator for permission before assuming that funding will be
available.

The official ETAPS'99 hotels are unfortunately rather expensive. In
order to make the limited funds we have for CoFI WG last longer, I
would be very grateful if you could attempt to find cheaper
accommodation in addition to taking advantage of cheap travel
opportunities. I will be doing this too. The ETAPS'99 web pages
includes a link to a hotel guide for Amsterdam and the telephone
number of a hotel booking service. From a bit of web surfing, it
seems that it should be easy to find a comfortable hotel for about
half the price of the ETAPS'99 hotels. But be warned that ETAPS'99 is
taking place during tulip season which means that hotels in Amsterdam
will be filling up quickly.

Finally, thanks to Mark van den Brand of CWI for taking care of the
local arrangements.

See you in Amsterdam!

Don Sannella
CoFI overall coordinator
