CoFI funding for WADT'99 and FM'99; CoFI logo contest

Dear CoFI friends,

This message concerns two separate topics:

  1. CoFI funding for attendance at WADT'99 and FM'99
  2. A contest to design a CoFI logo

Best regards,

Don Sannella
CoFI overall coordinator

CoFI funding for attendance at WADT'99 and FM'99
------------------------------------------------

I have received some questions about what exactly CoFI WG will pay in
connection with attendance at WADT'99 and FM'99.

* WADT'99: WADT'99 counts as an official CoFI workshop and so
attendance may be covered from CoFI funds. You don't need to give a
talk that is relevant to CoFI in order to get travel funding, but you
need to contribute to CoFI activity in some fashion. For eligible
people who have received permission from a task group coordinator to
attend, the following can be paid:

  travel to/from Bonas
  WADT'99 registration

Any such people who are also attending the invitation-only IFIP WG1.3
meeting immediately preceding WADT'99 can have the registration fee
for that paid as well.

* FM'99: As I announced in a message to this mailing list in April,
although there is a CoFI workshop at FM'99, this will be essentially
just a tutorial introduction to CoFI and CASL. Therefore CoFI WG
funding for FM'99 will be be restricted to the speakers at that
workshop, plus anybody who is attending FM'99 to present a paper about
some aspect of CoFI or CASL. Again, you need permission from a task
group coordinator. Then the following can be paid:

  travel to/from Toulouse
  FM'99 registration
  accommodation and meals

* For both meetings, the general procedures on the CoFI WG web pages
apply as well, of course -- see

CoFI logo contest
-----------------

A prize of 100 euros will be awarded to the best CoFI logo submitted
to me (dts@dcs.ed.ac.uk) by FRIDAY 10 SEPTEMBER. The winner will be
announced at WADT'99 in Bonas.

Ideally, the logo should also be usable as a CASL logo, for instance
by superimposing "CASL". You may submit a also CASL version of your
logo but this is not required. You may submit more than one entry if
you wish.

The winner of the competition will be required to supply electronic
source files for the logo and to permit its use in connection with
CoFI as a condition of receiving the prize.
