This document is the outcome of the CoFI Semantics Task Group's attempt to give a semantics for version 0.97 of CASL. This is given in the form of annotations on the Language Summary. Recommendations for changes in the design and comments on inadequacies in the semantics itself are also included.
This is based on, and renders obsolete, the semantics of version 0.95 of CASL which appeared as CoFI Semantics Note S-4.
This is version 2.0 of this note. It is identical to version 1.0 (21 July 1997) with the exception of the sections on subsorts, where changes have been made in reaction to comments received on version 1.0.
A preliminary and incomplete version of this document was distributed at a meeting of IFIP WG 1.3 in Tarquinia at the beginning of June 1997. Some of the feedback received during and after that meeting was taken into account in subsequent versions.
