Part 3 Collection of Manuals: Preliminaries

  Teil 3 Handbuchsammlung: Vorbemerkungen

The development standard for IT systems of the Federal Republic of Germany (EStdIT) is made up of the three following parts:

General Directive No. 250 "Lifecycle Process Model" is made up of the following parts: Part 1 "Regulations" is to uniformly and bindingly define activities and products (results) ensuing during the generation of the IT system and the concomitant activities for Quality Assurance (QA), Configuration Management (CM), and Project Management (PM).

Part 3 "Collection of Manuals" contains explanations to various topics. If required, it will be completed with further manuals (independent of the publication of a new V-Model version). The manuals are to help when working with the V-Model. Therefore, they are not to be handled like regulations.

To make it easy to keep them apart, the individual manuals are marked with initials of up to three letters (see table bellow). In the present collection of manuals they are sorted alphabetically.

In detail, the following topics will be covered:

Abbrev. Manual Notes
FAO Meeting the Minimum IT Requirements of the Federal Audit Office by Means of the V-Model This manual shows how the V-Model covers the requirements of the Federal Audit Office (FAO) and which V-Model activities and documents are meeting the requirements of the FAO.
BPR The Connection between Business Process Reengineering and the V-Model This manual explains the connection between business process reengineering and V-Model.
HW Hardware Generation This manual describes the operative module "hardware generation" used for the development of hardware units.
ISO The V-Model in an ISO and AQAP Environment This manual describes the application of the international, universally valid quality standard ISO 9001 and the AQAP standards. The role of the V-Model as process model is explained, also how the V-Model meets the requirements of the two QA standards or which additional requirements have to be met. Furthermore, it is shown by means of an allocation table how the processes of the ISO 12207 (Software Life Cycle Processes) are covered by the activities of the V-Model.
OOL Consideration of Object-Oriented Languages After a basic description of the impacts of using object-oriented languages in the V-Model, this manual particularly explains the languages Ada 95 and C++. It is shown how job and support aids of the V-Model are to be used with object-oriented languages. It is particularly explained how the product structure of the V-Model can be applied as structuring help for object-oriented system and software designs.
R Concept of Roles in the V-Model This manual lists a set of roles for each submodel in which those taking over particular roles carry out activities according to defined roles/activity allocations.
RE Reverse Engineering This manual describes the operative module "reverse engineering". In case it is a reverse engineering project, the entire submodel SD can be exchanged with this operative module.
SEC Application of the V-Model and ITSEC This manual lists activities and products that are relevant for the evaluation of systems. The manual describes the tasks required for the individual activities, especially with regard to evaluation, or which contents are expected for the evaluation products.
SA Safety and Criticality This manual describes the handling of safety and criticality. It also contains examples for criticality levels.
SC Scenarios This manual illustrates the application of the V-Model within the scope of different development strategies. The incremental development strategy is explained which is considered as normal case of system development.
T Tailoring and Project-Specific V-Model This manual describes how the tailoring relevant for tendering and the technical tailoring function. In addition to a standardized pre-tailoring for individual project types this manual also contains examples for possible deletion conditions.
ENV Coordinating the V-Model in its Environment This manual describes objective and conception of the V-Model. It also contains plans that show how to use the V-Model.
