Drag & Drop

Drag & Drop in the Graph Editor

The graph editor takes advantage of the uDraw(Graph) Drag and Drop feature to modify the graph with direct mouse manipulation. Drag and drop operations are also explained in the graph editor tutorial. The following drag and drop operations are available:

  • Insert a new node by pressing the middle mouse button somewhere in the graph area (but not over another node).
  • Insert a new child node by dragging an edge starting at the designated parent node (dragging means keeping the middle mouse button pressed while moving the mouse). The new child is placed over free space when you release the mouse button.
  • Insert a new edge between two nodes by dragging an edge starting at the designated parent node and dropping it over the designated child node.
  • Insert a copy of a node by pressing the SHIFT-key and dragging a node to free space where you want to place the copy. You can even copy a node between graphs in different base windows.
  • Insert a copy of a node as a child of another node by doing the same as above (i.e. SHIFT + dragging a node), but drop it on another node instead of free space. This can be done between graphs in different base windows, too.

Menu Edit/Toggle Drag & Drop

Drag and drop in the graph editor overlaps with 2-D scrolling: both is done with the middle mouse button. To turn off the drag and drop mode when the graph editor is connected, you can use menu "Edit/Toggle Drag & Drop". In the right footer area you can see a text message after the graph editor indicator when the drag and drop mode is turned on. In this case 2-D scrolling is not available. The drag and drop mode can also be controlled with the last graph editor icon.
