Use
A hardware configuration item is a configuration item which consists of hardware alone.
Notes:
  • For example, if a computer is only delivered or exchanged as a whole the it is an HWCI. However, if boards are delivered or exchanged as well, then the boards are HWCI's, and the computer itself is considered to be a segment.

  • An HWCI is always a part of a segment.
