    TIM - Tool Insertion Method

    McGill University

To improve the ability of software organizations to estimate the impact of the insertion of tools on productivity, we have developed the Tool Insertion Impact Analysis Method (TIM/Impact). The analysis is accomplished by analyzing resource requirements for different ways of carrying out the process: (1) with alternative technologies in terms of whether a tool is used and which tool is used; (2) with alternative process definitions in terms of which activities are carried out when and how often; and (3) in projects of different sizes in terms of product size.
