1 Purpose and Content of Annex 2

Annex 2 is meant as a help when applying complex methods. The interesting question is which component contains the respective complex method and to which extend correspond these components to the basic methods listed in the Methods Standard.

The standard conformity of a complex method only refers to those methodological components that are listed in the right column of the tabular comparison. Therefore, the conclusion cannot be drawn that the application of a complex method having components conform to the standard will generally meet all the requirements of the Methods Standard. The "empty positions" in the tabular comparison are rather a sign that additional methodical requirements have to be met, i. e. beyond the corresponding complex method.

In Annex 2, complex methods are described according to the following structure:

  1. brief description of the complex method
  2. tabular comparison
  3. specification of the allocation
In this connection, the components of the complex methods are listed and briefly explained under 1. The tabular comparison, section 2, compares the basic methods of the GD 251 with the individual methodological components of the corresponding complex method. For each methodological component it is listed if it meets the specification of the corresponding basic method, either completely or in part.

Section 3 contains explanations for all components not meeting all of the requirements according to section 2.

About the selection of complex methods:

The eight examined complex methods contained in the present version of Annex 2 comprise the most important methods for the application in national projects.

With regard to international projects, further complex methods are important. When associated with the NATO, e. g., the application of STRADIS is proposed. Within the scope of EC project "EUROMETHOD", the following methods are taken into consideration which-in the individual opinions of the participating nations-have been considered as representative:

Of these methods, IEM and SSADM have also been considered in the present version of Annex 2.
