    ESA PSS-05 describes the software engineering standards to be applied for all deliverable software implemented for the European Space Agency (ESA), either in house or by industry.

    The ESA Software Engineering Standards are divided into three parts:

    For all the new ESA projects there is the ECSS -European Cooperation for Space Standardization series of standards applicable, which is in the case of software especially ECSS-E-40 for Software Engineering and ECSS-Q80 for Software Product Assurance.
