Where does the game take place?
The game, in the current prototype state, plays in Bremen which is the home of its development. Merging the real with the virtual world the game is set to represent the player's location within the “Jetzt-Zeit” (present). Virtual aspects of the game are meant to be additions to the real life, necessary tools for play and interactions, rather than providing the playing with a new concept of place and time.
What do I control?
In order to play the game within the virtual and real world, the player has to handle the behaviour of a Virtual Life Form (VLF). As the VLF is more than a digital representation of the player's decisions – a creature with own will and moods – control is conducted not completely directly. Via maintaining and caring the likelihood of getting a willing and submissive VLF will increase, which will be necessary in order to be successful in interaction with others.
What is the main focus?
The main focus of the game can be divided in two aspects: maintaining and training / competition. In order to maintain the VLF, goods have to be gathered and traded and time has to be spent on the VLF to keep it in good mood and condition. The VLF has to be trained, as well, since it will compete against other creatures, humanly and artificially controlled. While it can be trained playing offline games, competition with others takes place location based, interacting online and offline.
What’s different?
An adult oriented mobile game will be developed, in order to allow new experiences in a world, which is believed to be known thoroughly. The combination of location based gaming together with a sophisticated location-tracking technology and game story and narration will allow true mixed reality experiences, both in playing and interacting with other players.
In terms of innovative gameplay, the player will be able to strongly influence his/her game direction. Whether the focus will be laid on gathering and trading, playing and maintaining the VLF, or competing against others, there are several ways of successful gaming – even if success means to destroy others’ work.
The general gameplay is about maintaining, raising a VLF and exploring the gameworld. The gamers intention is to level-up the attributes and to customize the VLF.
The main gameplay can be divided into collecting (Items and VLFs), interaction (between other players like trading, competition and communication, between the real and the virtual world, between the player and non-player-characters) and raising (upgrading the attributes of the VLF, customizing the look).
In the interaction with others, as part of a game community, it will be decided whether the game world will develop into a nice place to hang out, to play and stroll, where everyone benefits from each others generosity, or all hell will break loose.
