What fascinates me is, for example, how digital communities work.
WHEN they work.
Because some attract more and more people while others never really take off. But when they work, they are such a precious way of
exchanging ideas, questions, knowledge.
But how to find digital communities and participate?
But how to design them and interact with users?
And how to use them for educational purposes?

Some of the information is related to research and work, other refers to informal activities.
Currently I work on my phd dissertation trying to see what effects the active design of ICTs by non-techie users can have on learning and on their evoked sense of agency. I do this at the University of Bremen in the computer science departement.
Currently, I work at the Interdisziplinäres Forschungszentrum in Graz/Austria, where I have been invited as research fellow.
It all started with my M.A. thesis on "Internetbased teaching and learning in adult and women's education". That was 1998 at the University of Jena. A lot has changed since then.
Today we prefer to talk about Gender. And Gender Mainstreaming. I am not sure, if this makes things better. But it definitely adds a few important perspectives to the issue. In Bremen, we have published a guideline for the gender sensitive design of digital media for education.
