This is a collection of images of the Shanghai old town taken
in spring 2007.
The old town is being demolished rapidly to make room for
new apartment complexes.
At the same time, parts of the old town are being commercialized and
transformed into some kind of upscale, "disneyfied" version of Old Shanghai
complete with Starbucks, souvenir shops, and hordes of tourists.
We didn't see a single tourist during our lengthy trips into the "real"
old town (shown on most of the photos), though.
