Programs
This
page concentrates on women in computing and gender aspects of
computing. There are lots of programs in Germany which have a wider
range and focus on girls and women in science or engineering more
generally (some can be found in links).
If you wish a program in the context of computing to be add to this

The
information campaign "be-it" has been promoting the study of
computer science since 2001. It is sponsored by the
German
Federal Ministry of Education and
Research. The
information campaign
"Girls
go Informatik"
has
promoting the study of computer science since 2001, too. It
is sponsored by the German
Society for Informatics
(GI). Informatica
Feminale is a summer university for women in computing
(www.informatica-feminale.de). It concentrates on courses
for female computer science students from all German
universities. The initiative startet in 1997 at the
University of Bremen, where the summer program has become
part of the regular computer science programs and takes
place with around 250 participants every year in september
for two weeks. www.informatikerin.hs-bremen.de The
first and only International women´s course in computer
science (IFI) has started in the winter semester 2000 at the
University of Applied Sciences Bremen. It is a Federal
German Government experimental course with an admission
quota of 30 women entrants and leads within 3 years to the
degree of "Diplom-Informatikerin (FH)" (graduate computer
scientist). www.informatik.uni-hamburg.de/Frauen/Admina Women
computer science students and staff at the University of
Hamburg organize special tutorial weeks every
semester. The
mentoring programme Muffin21 is supported by female computer
science staff from IT-research centres and from IT-companies
in the initiative D21. Female computer science students and
young researchers is given the opportunity to become
familiar with researcher workplaces and careers. The
Institute of Computers and Society, Dept. of Modelling and
Social Effects, headed by Prof. Dr. Britta Schinzel, has a
long experience in women´s studies and gender research
in Computer Science. www.informatik.uni-bremen.de/Frautec The
professorship Women´s Studies in Technology at the
University of Bremen is held by Prof. Dr. Susanne
Maaß.
Since 2001 a regional Informatica Feminale has started in
Baden-Wuerttemberg, one of the German Laender. It takes
place for one week every year in September
