About me
I'm a researcher at the department for Cyber-Physical Systems (formerly named as Safe and Secure Cognitive Systems) of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), associated with Prof. Udo Frese's Real-Time Computer Vision Working Group at the Universität Bremen.
From 2004 to 2008, I worked in the group of Prof. Bernd Krieg-Brückner in the context of the DFG Priority Program Cooperating Teams of Mobile Robots in Dynamic Environments as well as in the Transregional Collaborative Research Center Spatial Cognition: Reasoning, Action, Interaction.
My main research interests include simulation and state estimation for autonomous robots, e.g. for rehabilitation robots as well as for different kinds of soccer robots.
Since 2002, I have regularly participated in RoboCup competitions with different teams in different leagues. My current team is B-Human, the reigning German and three-time (2009-2011) world champion in the Standard Platform League.
Aside the robot soccer pitch, I have developed components for autonomous navigation of rehabilitation robots, i.e. the intelligent walker iWalker, and the autonomous wheelchair Rolland. One ongoing project is the development of a new entertainment robot that plays ball games with humans. A short video (4 MB) can be watched here.
