In 2014, the number of obese Germans rose to over 20% for the first time. Not only an unhealthy diet, but also a chronic lack of exercise has contributed to this trend in recent years. Exergames - Exercise Games, i.e. video games that are played with movement as input - represent a way to specifically motivate their players to exercise more. In the context of the master project AI-FIT we dealt with current topics in the field of exergaming. The goal of the project was to develop a relevant research question and to answer it empirically.
After extensive research we decided to measure the influence of narrative interaction in an exergame. Together we developed a 30 minute cardio-exergame with real-time pose recognition in Unity and tested our hypothesis.
