Informatica Feminale
The project Informatica Feminale - Sommeruniversität für Frauen in der Informatik [Informatica Feminale - Summer University for Women in Informatics] aims at reforming the university education in informatics so that women's interests are taken into account. The idea of the project combines three conceptual aspects:
- curriculum discussion among women,
- summer courses in informatics for women (especially students), taught by female professors and lecturers,
- further education of female computer scientists.
All these aspects are interconnected: they (re)construct the process of higher education and (re)define the institutional structures and culture of a university. The three elements of the project should put women in a position to widen their influence in the scientific and academic culture.
The project Informatica Feminale, started in May 1997, is supported by the University of Bremen within the third Hochschulsonderprogramm.
